Calipers are extremely versatile measuring tools. They are 4 tools in one. You can use them to measure O.D I.D Depth and they can also be used as a height gage.

Digital:Digital calipers are fast becoming the most popular and most used because of there rugged design and easy to red display

Dial:Dial calipers are available in inch or metric and inch/metric.They are slowly being phased out by Digital Calipers.

Vernier:Vernier’s have become a thing of the past but I would recommend that you learn to read a vernier scale because you will run across a tool that uses a vernier scale.
