Welcome To Machinist-Guide.com

This is a video on machinist drill chucks.

I will give you some tips on identifying different sizes and mounting types. There are many types of mounting configurations being used in today’s machine shops. So I will touch on the most common ones used by professionals as well as hobbyist.

The most widely used mounting type is the Jacobs Taper. The Jacobs Taper has been around for over a hundred years now.

Jacobs Tapers create a locking action by inserting a precision ground tapered shank in a precision ground hole with the same taper.

When these to tapers are forced together they lock together.

I also talk about the screw on mount for drill chucks in this video
