Learn machinist terminology

Learn to talk the talk.

I have listed some of the terminology used in a machine shop environment along with some machinist slang.

This is more important then you would think. For example if you are being interviewed for a job, if you can’t talk the talk, then you leave the impression you are not knowledgeable in your trade. The same goes with your boss he/she will communicate with you using machinist lingo and you will be expected to understand what they are saying.

Another thing that makes this important is technical reference media uses terminology in there content. If you don’t understand the language then you won’t understand there content.

“Even if you ant a machinist yet you can sound like you is one.”
