Machinist Work Holding Tips

Machinist Work Holding is a universal consideration in the metalworking industry and it can often be a problem. For the majority of setups there are enough “standard” solutions that the machinist need not conceder this a serious problem.

There are many types of setup tooling in the metalworking trade.

Setups range from a simple clamping in a vise to elaborate automated computer controlled clamping fixtures. Fixtures utilize motion control by pneumatic, hydraulic, electromagnetic.

Some of the standard methods of work holding would be but not limited to the strap clamp, toe clamps, rocker clamps, v-blocks, chucks, collets, vices, and the list goes on.

I will be posting some videos with workholding tips in the very near future. I plan on starting with the most common and least expensive of work holding methods, the strap clamp.

So please bookmark us for future reference and please look around our site.
