Metric Conversions

In Fig A you can see that metric conversions are   pretty easy. Just remember the magic number 25.4. You will use this number to convert both metric and standard.
In this case you simply divide the metric dimension by the magic number 25.4 and you get the inch dimension

Example:
You want to convert 8 MM. to an inch.
All ya have to do is divide 8 by 25.4 and you get your inch dimension of  .3149

Now in Fig B you can see that converting inch to metric is as easy as metric to inch.

In this case you simply multiply the inch Dimension by the magic number 25.4 and you get the millimeter Dimension

Example:
You want to convert 3/8" to MM.
First you need the decimal equivalent of 3/8 Which is .375
Now you multiply .375 by 25.4 and you get your MM dimension of 9.52
