from outside diameter the formula is O.D. minus .25(all kinds of steel)
Ex: 10x2 (10 is the diameter while 2 is the pitch) thus; 10-.25= 9.75
and by getting the inside thread (I.D.)outside diameter 9.75 - 2(pitch)=8.5 and minus .25 {for CRS steel and .5 for stainless as standard allowance}=8.25
O.D.=9.75 and I.D.=8.25
